I started as a dad with too many questions.
HolyH₂O is an Australian-owned water filtration and hydrogen water brand, founded in Sydney by AJ. We make benchtop and tap water filters, shower and bath filters, and hydrogen water bottles, designed around Australian tap water and used in more than 100,000 Aussie homes.
I'm AJ, founder of HolyH₂O.
We moved to Australia, started a family here, and I did what everyone does. Turned on the tap. The water looked clean and it was considered safe, so I didn't think about it again.
Then my son began dealing with skin sensitivity, and I started looking closely at the everyday things that touched his skin and surrounded our family. Water was one of them.
It didn't give me an answer to what caused his skin issues. It gave me a question. That turned out to be the more useful thing.
Because when you move countries, you notice how much you've been taking for granted. The food is different. The weather is different. Homes work differently. Even the water tastes different. I'd spent most of my life filling a glass without once asking what was in it.
So I started reading. Just our own water at first, then filtration.
Then things got slightly out of hand.
I wasn't a water scientist, and I'm not going to pretend to be one. I was simply a customer who became unusually interested in getting better answers.
I read specifications. Compared filter media. Looked at testing. Spoke to suppliers. Tried products. Pulled things apart. Asked annoying questions.
The further I went, the more convinced I became that buying a water filter shouldn't need a chemistry degree or a leap of faith. That became the idea behind HolyH₂O.
HolyH₂O started with one simple rule, and every product in the range still has to pass it before it goes anywhere near a customer.
If I wouldn't use it in my own home, I don't want to sell it to yours.
That sounds obvious. It isn't. It means caring about what's inside a filter, not just how the outside looks. Improving materials when we can. Publishing testing instead of asking you to simply trust us. And changing things when customers show us how they could be better.
We don't always get everything right the first time. But curiosity, evidence and constant improvement are baked into how we build this company. So every product has to answer four questions.
What began as me trying to understand something for my own family slowly turned into something much bigger.
In the beginning, we packed orders ourselves. No big team, no grand plan to become a national water brand. Just products, boxes, customers, feedback, mistakes, improvements and a lot of late nights.
One order became a hundred. A hundred became thousands. Today HolyH₂O products are used in more than 100,000 Australian homes, and I'm grateful for every one of them.
You can't control everything your family is exposed to. But you can be more thoughtful about what you bring into your home.
For us, water became one of those things. Not because anyone should be scared of their tap water. Not because one filter magically fixes everything. But because water is one of those small choices you make over and over again.
Making that one everyday thing a little more considered felt worthwhile. That's still what HolyH₂O is about.
At first I was thinking about water. These days I think about the whole experience. Could the filter use better materials? Could setup be easier? Could the testing be clearer? Could it look good enough that you actually want it on your kitchen bench? Could support feel like talking to a person instead of opening a ticket?
HolyH₂O has grown a lot since those first orders, and I hope it keeps growing. But I never want us to get so big that we stop being curious.
We'll keep asking what could be better. We'll keep listening when you tell us something isn't. And we'll keep applying the same test that started all of this:
