They do opposite jobs. The Trinity removes contaminants. The Hydronizer adds molecular hydrogen. Filter first, hydrogenate second. The Hydronizer does no filtering at all, so the water you put in is the water you drink.
Not necessarily, they solve different problems.
A drinking filter deals with what you consume. A shower filter deals with chlorine and chloramine contact on skin and hair, and with what evaporates in a hot enclosed bathroom. If you only want one, pick based on which bothers you: taste and what's in your glass, or dry skin and hair after showering.

Testing took fluoride from 2.0 mg/L down to 0.01 mg/L. The work is done by activated alumina in the Stage 2 (Fluoride + KDF blend) cartridge. Activated alumina is the media that actually binds fluoride, which is why it's in the blend.
For context, Australian tap water is fluoridated at roughly 0.6 to 1.1 mg/L in most capital cities.
Tested to, not certified. We're deliberate about that wording.
The filter media is independently tested to NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53 and 401 by an accredited laboratory. That means the media was put through the NSF test protocols and the results are published.
NSF certification is a separate, ongoing commercial programme covering the finished product. We don't hold it, so we don't claim it. Plenty of brands blur that line. We'd rather show you the report.
We're not claiming a number yet, and here's exactly why.
The media is designed to address PFAS. But in our independent test, PFOA and PFOS in the source water were already below the laboratory's reporting limit, so there was nothing measurable to reduce and no percentage could be calculated.
We could publish the manufacturer's nominal capacity figure like others do. We'd rather run a spiked re-test and publish a measured result. When we have it, it goes on the site.
The Trinity is built for treated town water. Don't use it to make untested water safe.
It's a filter, not a purifier. If your supply is rainwater, bore water, tank water or anything not treated by a utility, the Trinity will improve taste and reduce many contaminants, but it should not be relied on to make microbiologically unsafe water drinkable. Get your tank tested and use a treatment method suited to that job.

You fill the top tank from above, so leave a little clearance if it's going under overhead cupboards.
Several hours for a full tank. Gravity does the work, so it's meant to be slow.
Most households fill it once in the morning and once before bed and never think about it. Two things that legitimately slow it down:
If it's still slow after cleaning the dome, the cartridge is likely due for replacement.
Yes, and it clears on its own.
New carbon media releases fine harmless particles when it's first wetted. Discard the first two tanks, then you're good. Cloudiness that looks milky and clears from the bottom up is just dissolved air, which is also normal.
Because a TDS meter can't measure what this filter is designed to do.
TDS means total dissolved solids. It counts calcium and magnesium, which are minerals you want, alongside anything else dissolved. The Trinity isn't designed to strip minerals, and Stage 3 mineral stones deliberately add trace minerals back, so the number shouldn't collapse.
Critically, a TDS meter cannot detect lead, fluoride, chlorine, chloramine or THMs. A reverse osmosis system gives you a low TDS reading and flat-tasting demineralised water. Different design, different trade-off.
No. Stage 3 mineral stones add trace minerals back after filtration.
That's the main difference from reverse osmosis, which removes essentially everything including beneficial minerals and leaves water tasting flat.
Different job. Jug filters mostly improve taste; the Trinity targets specific contaminants.
A supermarket jug uses a small basic carbon cartridge aimed at chlorine taste and odour. The Trinity is a three-stage system with published reductions for fluoride, chloramine, heavy metals and THMs, and it holds 9 to 22 litres ready to pour instead of a 1.5L jug you refill all day.
It's a benchtop unit, not a fridge unit.
It's designed to sit out and be filled from above, and at 60 to 64 cm tall it won't fit in a standard fridge. Filtered water sits at room temperature. If you like it cold, decant into a bottle or jug and refrigerate that.
Empty it before you go, and flush a tank through when you're back.
Filtered water has had its chlorine removed, which is exactly what you want for drinking but means it has no residual disinfectant if it sits for weeks. Tip out both tanks, let the unit air-dry with the lid off, and run one tank through and discard it when you return.
Same filtration approach, no plastic tank and no plastic shell.
Choose it if you want glass on the bench and you're filtering for one or two people. Choose the standard Trinity if you need more capacity.
Yes. It uses activated alumina, the same fluoride-reduction media as the standard Trinity.
A smaller unit doesn't mean lesser filtration. The glass cartridges use multi-layer media from the same family.
It's built for daily kitchen use, but it is glass, so treat it like a good carafe.
Keep it away from the edge of the bench, don't pour boiling water into it, and lift by the body rather than the lid. If anything arrives damaged, send us a photo within 48 hours and we'll replace it.
Wipe spills, don't soak them.
Neither part contacts your drinking water. Wipe with a damp cloth and dry. Keep them out of the dishwasher and don't leave them sitting in water, same as any bamboo board.

A 6-stage filter in a 304 stainless steel housing that screws onto your existing tap.
It's third-party tested to NSF Standards 42 and 53 and reduces over 150 contaminants including chlorine, sediment, rust, taste and odour compounds, and metals such as lead. Stage 1 is a PP cotton pre-filter for rust and sediment, Stage 2 is coconut-shell activated carbon, with four further stages behind them.
Because the housing is stainless rather than plastic, no plastic touches your water on the way through.
It fits around 95% of standard Australian taps. Here's the 5% it doesn't.
If yours is a plain round spout with a removable aerator, you're almost certainly fine. If you're not sure, don't guess.

The Tap Mate is carbon-based. Fluoride reduction needs activated alumina, which is in the Trinity and Trinity Glass, not in this filter. If fluoride is your reason for buying, the Tap Mate is the wrong product and we'd rather tell you now than process a refund later.

Use unfiltered for washing up and filling the sink so you're not spending cartridge life on dishwater, and filtered for drinking, cooking and rinsing produce. If flow drops noticeably over time, that's the cartridge telling you it's due.
Filter cold water only.
Hot water damages activated carbon media and shortens cartridge life considerably. Switch to the unfiltered setting for hot water, and filter cold water then heat it if you need hot filtered water for cooking or tea.

Yes, both. All three units use KDF and catalytic carbon media.
This matters in Australia. Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide use chloramine, which is more stable than free chlorine and doesn't evaporate in a hot shower. Standard activated carbon, common in shower filters built for the US market, doesn't adequately address it. Catalytic carbon does.
What we can tell you for certain: it reduces chlorine and chloramine in your shower water.
That's the measurable part, and it's the reason most people buy one. Many customers tell us their skin feels less dry and their hair feels softer within a few weeks. Those are their experiences, not a medical claim, and we're not going to dress them up as one.
If you have a diagnosed skin condition, talk to your GP or dermatologist. A shower filter isn't a treatment for anything.
Standard wall-mounted arms, yes. Ceiling-mounted rain heads are the tricky one.
Yes. Hand-tight, no tools, no plumber, nothing permanent.
It screws on and screws off, so there's nothing for a landlord to approve and nothing to make good when you leave. Keep your original showerhead in a cupboard, swap it back on moving day, and take the filter with you.
No, and we'd rather say so than sell you the wrong thing.
These reduce chlorine and chloramine. They are not water softeners and won't change hardness or remove scale minerals like calcium and magnesium. If limescale on your tapware is the problem you're solving, a filter isn't the right tool.
Two signs: the chlorine smell comes back, or the flow drops.
Media changing colour is normal and expected as it does its job, so colour alone isn't the signal. Go by smell and flow, and use the schedule as your baseline: every 6 months for 1 to 2 people, every 3 months for 4 or more.

It filters the blended water on its way out, so the type of hot water system you have doesn't matter. On very low-flow systems some people notice a slight pressure change; if that's a concern for you, get in touch before ordering.

Each unit filters the shower it's attached to, so most households start with the main bathroom and add a second later if a guest or kids' bathroom gets daily use. There's no point filtering a shower nobody stands in.

The technical version: a platinum-coated titanium electrode paired with a DuPont N117 proton exchange membrane splits water and dissolves H₂ into the drinking chamber. Oxygen and byproducts vent through a separate exhaust chamber, not into your water.
It's ordinary drinking water with hydrogen gas dissolved in it.
The gas is tasteless, odourless and non-toxic, and any excess simply escapes from the water over time. Nothing is added to the water except hydrogen, and the SPE/PEM design keeps oxygen and byproducts out of the drinking chamber.

No. Different technology, different goal.
An alkaline ioniser raises water pH, splitting the supply into an alkaline stream and an acidic waste stream. The target is pH.
The Hydronizer dissolves molecular hydrogen without meaningfully changing pH. The target is dissolved H₂ concentration. The two get confused constantly, but they aren't the same product and the Hydronizer is not an ioniser.
No. It adds hydrogen, it doesn't remove anything.
Whatever you pour in is what you drink, plus hydrogen. Use filtered water for the best result. If you want both, filter with a Trinity first and hydrogenate second.
Not automatically, no.
PPM (parts per million) measures dissolved hydrogen concentration at the end of a cycle. Hydrogen starts escaping the moment the cycle ends regardless of the starting number, which is why when you drink it matters as much as the figure on the box.
A higher PPM model suits you if you want maximum concentration per glass. For daily use, capacity, materials and whether you'll actually carry it matter just as much. The best model is the one you use every day.
Like water. Set your expectations accordingly.
Molecular hydrogen is tasteless and odourless, so there's no flavour change. You'll see fine bubbles during and after a cycle, and some people describe it as slightly smoother, but if you're expecting a noticeable difference in taste you won't find one. It tastes like whatever water you put in.
Within about 30 minutes.
Hydrogen is the smallest molecule there is and it escapes from water over time, faster in an open glass than a sealed bottle. Make it when you're ready to drink it rather than in the morning for the afternoon. Colder water holds dissolved gas a little better, which is why iced or chilled water is a good choice.
Plain water only. Nothing else goes in the bottle.
Fine to use: tap, filtered, spring, purified, reverse osmosis, well and distilled water. Ambient, cold or iced.
Never: juice, tea, cordial, sparkling water, electrolyte mixes or boiling water. Sugars and acids foul the PEM membrane and heat damages it, and that damage isn't covered by warranty.
Want flavour? Hydrogenate plain water first, then add it to your drink in a separate glass.
Usually a dried-out membrane or mineral scale. Both are fixable at home.

Yes, and specifically. Australian water isn't treated the same way as US or European water.
Most of our capital cities disinfect with chloramine rather than free chlorine. Filters designed for overseas markets typically use standard activated carbon, which handles free chlorine well and chloramine poorly. A US-spec filter will improve taste while leaving chloramine largely intact.
