There's no single gadget that does both jobs as well as two dedicated ones. Hydrogen bottles and pitchers use electrolysis to add dissolved hydrogen; filters remove things like chlorine, chloramine, fluoride and metals. For filtered hydrogen water, filter with Trinity (or Tap Mate for a quick tap fix), then add hydrogen with a Hydronizer, the Hydronizer Pitcher or the Tough Titan.
About the numbers: filter figures are from third-party testing of the Trinity system by AS Enviro, an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory (fluoride 2.0 mg/L down to 0.01 mg/L). Results vary with source water. Hydrogen figures are the rated PPM for each Hydronizer model. Australian mains water meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines; filtering is about taste and choosing what you'd rather have less of.
Does a Hydrogen Water Bottle Filter Your Water?
No. A hydrogen water bottle passes a small electric current through water to split off molecular hydrogen, which dissolves back into your drink. That's an adding step, not a filtering step. It isn't built to take chlorine, chloramine, fluoride or metals out, so the water you pour in decides how clean the water you drink is.
Good bottles like the Hydronizer use SPE/PEM electrolysis: platinum-coated titanium plates and a proton exchange membrane, with excess oxygen released to the air. That design is about producing clean hydrogen consistently, not about purifying the water around it. It's the same reason the Hydronizer, the Pitcher and the Tough Titan need no filter cartridges at all.
What Gets Sold as a "Hydrogen Water Filter"
Search "hydrogen water filter" and you'll find four quite different products under one label. Only some of them filter, only some of them make meaningful hydrogen, and very few publish test results for both. Here's how to tell them apart before you buy.

Why Filter Before You Add Hydrogen
Because the hydrogen generator works with whatever you give it. Filtering first means the water you drink tastes clean and has less of the chlorine, fluoride and metals you'd rather skip, while the bottle focuses on fresh hydrogen. Use filtered tap or spring water, not distilled, which doesn't conduct well enough for electrolysis.
Australian tap water is disinfected with chlorine or chloramine. Trinity reduces chlorine by more than 99.9% and chloramine by 99.0%, so your hydrogen water doesn't taste like the pool.
Most carbon filters and every hydrogen bottle leave fluoride in. Trinity's activated alumina stage reduced it by 99.5% in testing.
Trinity adds calcium and magnesium back after filtering, so the water still conducts well in a Hydronizer. Distilled water, by contrast, conducts poorly.

How to Make Filtered Hydrogen Water at Home
Filter, fill, press, drink. The whole routine takes a few minutes and the only habit to build is drinking it fresh, because dissolved hydrogen starts escaping as soon as it's made.
- Filter your water. Fill Trinity or run your tap through Tap Mate.
- Fill your generator. Pour filtered water into your Hydronizer, Pitcher or Tough Titan. Skip distilled water.

Red Flags When Shopping for a Hydrogen Water Filter
- One device claiming to "remove all contaminants" and make hydrogen, with no lab report for either.
- No PPM figure, or only pH and ORP numbers. Learn the difference in PPM vs ORP.

- Fluoride claims for a plain carbon cartridge. Standard carbon filters generally don't significantly reduce fluoride.
Hydrogen Water Filter FAQs
Is there a hydrogen water filter that does both jobs?
Some machines sold as hydrogen water filters pair a carbon cartridge with an electrolysis cell, but the filtering and the hydrogen still come from two separate stages, and test reports for both are rare. The simplest setup is a tested filter like HolyH₂O Trinity for your drinking water, then a SPE/PEM generator like the Hydronizer to add hydrogen just before you drink.
Do hydrogen water bottles remove chlorine?
No. A hydrogen water bottle is built to add molecular hydrogen, not to filter. If you want the chlorine taste gone, filter first: Trinity reduces chlorine by more than 99.9% in third-party testing and Tap Mate reduces it by up to 99%.
Do hydrogen water bottles remove fluoride?

What water should I put in a hydrogen water bottle?

Do Hydronizer bottles need replacement filters?
No. The Hydronizer bottles, the Hydronizer Pitcher and the Tough Titan don't use filter cartridges. Your only ongoing cartridge is the one in your drinking water filter, such as Trinity or Tap Mate.
Can I use Tap Mate water in my Hydronizer?
Yes. Tap Mate twists onto most standard kitchen taps and reduces chlorine by up to 99%, which makes it a quick way to fill your Hydronizer. Choose Trinity instead if you also want fluoride reduced.
